The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has denied claims that it is to blame for delays in delivery of party nomination materials as reported by some media houses.
In a statement, IEBC pointed out its position in today’s ongoing party primaries.
“Our attention is drawn by members of public appearing on media houses blaming the IEBC for the delay in delivering party nomination election materials. We wish to inform members of the public that the ongoing elections are being conducted by political parties and not the IEBC. IEBC is only monitoring to ensure compliance. Elections pose a lot of unforeseen operational challenges and we call upon calmness and patience as the parties sort out their logistics.”
Today’s party nomination exercise has been marked with delays in delivery of party election materials. Violence has also been reported in some area as a result of this.
